We are really pleased to have been approached by a former Client, a privately-owned, entrepreneurial business in York, which is looking to expand its HR team with the addition of a People Assistant.

As of two years ago the business did not have in-house HR, however the Head of HR has laid the foundations of an effective and trusted HR function which adds significant value to the business and is instrumental in building a more people centric culture.

They're not a business with a lot of Employee Relations issues, so the HR team is able to dedicate its time to the more value-add end of HR such as colleague engagement, retention and wellbeing, talent acquisition and management / people development. The move towards a more high-performance culture has created the need for a People Assistant to help deliver a number of new HR initiatives. These could have a focus across all areas of HR from Recruitment (e.g. developing the employer brand) through to Learning & Development or Engagement and Wellbeing. One thing is for sure; this role will be both busy and varied!

We're looking for an HR generalist who is a self-starter, has the ability to prioritise workload & use their initiative and will be visible in the business. Arguably, the most important things will be your attitude, energy and willingness to get to know your colleagues, ultimately becoming a trusted Advisor. Given the size of the business, there may be times when you are asked to help with something which doesn’t always fall under the more traditional HR remit (e.g organising an event). As such you’ll need to be the type of person that likes variety and pace!

You will report to a supportive and fun Head of People who is keen to help someone who is looking to progress. This role would definitely suit someone looking to step up from a junior/ admin level HR position.
